About Our Troop
Troop 823 was established in 1971 to bring Scouting to the sons of servicemen at McCoy Air Force Base in Orlando, FL until the base closed in 1973 and to the Orlando Naval Training Center when it took the AFB over. Today the Navy is gone, but we have prevailed for over 40 years; now serving civilian families in southern Orange, Seminole, and Osceloa counties.
We meet every Monday (6:30-8:00p.m.at the Bear Creek Recreational Center behind Cypress Creek Highschool (Excluding Holidays) and are a very active and family oriented Troop. And families are invited to camp with us when this is allowed.* We are also a very active troop, doing as much as we can whenever we can.
- Monthly Weekend Campouts- Where scouts learn survival skills and complete merit badges.
- Community Service Opportunities- Which are required by some schools. Why not get them done in Scouting?

Scouting teaches young men who are between the ages of 11 and 18 or have completed the 5th grade leadership, good ethics, and leadership to be utilized in their everyday lives.
If you think that you might be interested in joining our troop, we'd be happy to have you sit in at one of our meetings and answer any questions you may have. Alternatively, you can speak with one of our leaders electronically to see if we can get you set up in scouting.
